5 Fall Activities To Do With Your Toddler

  1. Paint some tiny pumpkins – pumpkins are easy to find this time of year, but we don’t have to carve them yet! Get out your paint brushes, put on a smock, and let your toddler decide which colours to add to their little pumpkin. They love to be creative and this activity adds some new decor for the house! I find these pumpkins last for months so you can even have them until the winter months end.
  2. Go for a nature walk – warm or chilly weather still welcomes a good walk in nature or around the neighborhood, especially while all the leaves are changing colours! Point out the colours and ask your toddler to name them, ask them what they can hear out there, and what else they can see in their neighborhood or trail.
  3. Parks are still fun in a sweater – some people are on the fence about parks as the weather gets crisp. But they are still fun! Usually with the sun shining, you will both be comfortable. Wear layers you can peal off as you warm up, bring a travel mug of coffee and enjoy some time at the park. Those slides won’t be burning any butts this time of year!
  4. Collect some pretty leaves – the leaves start to cover the ground and we all love that crunchy sound as we walk through them! Find the prettiest leaves you see and let your toddler collect a bunch for a craft or maybe some Fall decor you plan on putting together. Our littles love being apart of a project and gives them a feeling of importance. Teaching the types of leaves and which trees they come from is a great learning opportunity too!
  5. Bake a fun dessert – who doesn’t love a homemade treat at any time of year! Fall is the cozy time of year that gives us everything pumpkin spice, and even apple desserts. Look up a cake recipe that is easy to follow and let your toddler get right in there. Yes it will be messy, and you may get frustrated but go into it with those expectations and allow it all to happen. Just make it fun and don’t stress about the disaster of flour on the floor. Our littles love to help us and get excited to see and taste something they created with us.
